Meeting with CBVM President Guarantees support to the event
Commodore Augusto Cesar Streppel and the Nations Cup technical director, Mr Nelson Ilha met Mr Carlos Luiz Martins Pereira e Souza, president of CBVM (Brazilian Confederation of Motor and Sailing) on 7 of July, in Rio de Janeiro, to deal about Nations Cup Grand Final, a match race grade 1 competition which will be held at Veleiros do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil, on March 2009.In the meeting they signed a contract with ISAF (International Sailing Federation) to realize the Finals of the Nations Cup by Veleiros do Sul and CBVM, saying after the meeting that “president Carlos Souza put available all CBVM facilities to guarantee the realization of this event and he, also, compromise himself to contact the Marines to borrow boats class J24 from them which could be use in the match just in case.”Besides Nations Cup it was also discussed another important project to Brazilian Sailing which is being desenvolved by Veleiros do Sul for a while. “We talked about Veleiros do Sul project in organizing a South America practicing center of match race aiming the 2012 Olympiads”, said Streppel.The Nations Cup of 2008/2009 is having seven continental stages disputed through September 2008 to January 2009. The Grand Final will be held in March at the headquarters of the “Gaúcho” Club Veleiros do Sul.
